Many families reach a point where every proposal seems to stall, and the questions begin. Is something wrong in the kundlijathagam? Did we miss a doshadosham? Should we be doing something more?
If this is where your family is now, please read this slowly. In astrology, a marriage that takes longer than hoped is very common. Most of the time it points to timing, not to a problem that can never be solved.
What is looked at first
A marriage question is read mainly from a few places in the birth chart. These are the same things Navatara checks when it calculates a reading:
- The 7th house, the house of marriage, counted from the ascendant (lagna). If the birth time is not known, it is counted from the Moon sign instead.
- The lord of the 7th house, and where it sits. It is considered weaker for marriage when placed in the 6th, 8th or 12th house.
- Planets in the 7th house. Saturn, Mars, Rahu or Ketu there are traditionally linked with a slower or later marriage.
- Saturn's look (aspect) on the 7th house, which can also slow things down.
- Venus, the planet of marriage in every chart. It is weaker when it falls in Kanni (Virgo). Jupiter is also read for marriage in a woman's chart.
- Mangal doshaChevvai dosham and Kaal Sarp (Rahu-Ketu) doshaRahu-Ketu (sarpa) dosham, checked together with the classical exceptions that cancel them.
None of these decides anything alone. A chart is read as a whole, and almost every chart has something from this list.
Why delay is usually about timing
The birth chart shows what is promised. The running periods show when it arrives. This is why two people with similar charts can marry years apart.
Three timing factors matter most:
- The dashadasa and antardashabhukti. These are planetary periods that run one after another through life. When the running period belongs to a planet connected with marriage, such as the 7th lord, Venus, a planet in the 7th house, or Jupiter for a woman, the timing becomes supportive. When it does not, things often move slowly, however hard the family tries.
- Guru balaGuru balam. Jupiter moves through one sign in about a year. When it is in the 2nd, 5th, 7th, 9th or 11th sign from the birth Moon sign, it is considered favourable for marriage.
- Sade SatiEzharai Sani (Sade Sati). Saturn's seven-and-a-half-year passage around the Moon sign can make things feel slow. It is a small brake, not a closed door.
When these do not line up, a proposal that looks perfect on paper may still not move forward. When they do line up, matters that were stuck often begin to move.
How Navatara finds the good periods
Navatara looks at the coming 36 months, one month at a time, and gives each month a score:
- higher when the running dashadasa or antardashabhukti planet is connected with marriage
- higher when Guru balaGuru balam is present
- higher when Jupiter is in the 7th house, or looks at it
- a little lower when Sade SatiEzharai Sani (Sade Sati) is running
The stretches of months with the highest scores become the good periods in your reading. The reading also explains the reasons for the delay so far, in plain words, so you know what has been slowing things and when that changes.
What you can do now
Knowing the timing helps a family spend its energy well. A few practical steps:
- Keep looking, without pressure. A slower period is a good time to meet families, talk, and understand what you really want. Conversations that start now can settle when the good period begins.
- Check matches carefully. When a proposal comes, a proper kundli matchporutham check protects you from regret later.
- Choose simple remediespariharams if they comfort you. A temple visit, a short daily prayer, or a small act of kindness on a chosen weekday. A remedypariharam should bring peace, not a large bill.
- Look after the person at the centre. Your son or daughter is probably feeling the waiting more than anyone. A calm home matters more than any chart.
When to stop worrying
Please set the worry down if any of these is true for you:
- Someone has told you a doshadosham makes marriage impossible. No classical rule says that, and many doshasdoshams are cancelled by well-known exceptions.
- You are being asked to pay for an expensive pujapooja, urgently. Real guidance never comes with a deadline.
- The good period is a year or two away. That is ordinary. It is not a sign that something is wrong.
A reading is guidance to help your family think clearly and act at a good time. It cannot promise a date, and no honest reading will.
Ask about your family
If you would like to know which period is running now and when the supportive time begins, send the date, time and place of birth on WhatsApp. If the birth time is not known, the birth star works too. The short reading is free, and so are the questions you ask afterwards.
